Uncharted Territory and the Season

We’re emerging into uncharted territory. It’s a season in which obedience to the Spirit’s promptings is critical, marked with anticipatory responses to what lies before us. Anticipatory responses in a season without precedent. With a need to uniquely understand the times along with our evolving, unique assignments. A season in which we need to unequivocally, with confidence, understand and embrace our identity, purpose and destiny.

Not unlike the uncharted times Joseph and Daniel navigated, those who are wise have already gleaned sufficient guidance to be preparing. The need to be strategic with anticipatory responses to the times. With that is the need to draw from the enduring wisdom of the Jewish people, who over the centuries have become intimately acquainted with facing the spiritual backlash and the seasons of change.

Drawing from the deep roots of their faith, as a people during times of darkness, they have emerged not only stronger, but with the mantle of being disproportionate achievers. At the foundation of Jewish culture is the Jewish model that combines community and business with God at the center. At the core of the model are the secrets that have been passed from generation to generation ….and prayer.

A Track Record of Anticipatory Responses for this Season
In the almost 50 adult years that I have walked with the Lord, I have sought to understand God’s ways and the heritage of these roots and secrets. Since the time of 9/11 in 2001 I have been giving keen focus to teaching about what I’ve called God’s economy within environs where brethren have been persecuted. This follows, since early 1996, a message defining and mobilizing a remnant of leaders, forerunners of this season, modern-day Josephs and Daniels.

Much groundwork has been established in encouraging these forerunners to embrace the thinking and the mantles tied to their roles in challenging times and toxic spiritual atmospheres. My seven marketplace books outline and give depth to the dynamics of God’s economy and to the Joseph-Daniel calling.

As I pursued these goals in lands of persecution, imparting the principles of God’s economy, I began recognizing the keen interest of non-believers to the dynamics resulting in the people of the Book, the Jews, who have become known for their prowess in business. The result has become a variant of the God’s economy message — Jewish business secrets — that has found spiritual resonance across cultures within communities of believers and non-believers alike.

Strategies and Mindsets that Operate Above the Fray
So we have entered a time when we ALL need to be thinking and viewing the developments around us. We need mind-sets that evaluate developments from outside the box. We each need to be hearing from God at new levels …. without what can be constraints of Western-centric cultural norms. With that, is recognizing the need of obedience to anticipatory adjustments guided by the Spirit — to understand the changing times and our responses to the change, as we enter uncharted territory. All this requires listening hearts and a purity of faith to do so, but results in our serving in roles as the head and not the tail during times of turmoil and disruption.

One of those anticipatory and timely responses is from a dear, trusted friend in South Africa. His initiatives glean much from Jewish biblical thinking …. with transgenerational strategies and the wisdom of alternate economic systems. In that regard, one of my friend Jasper’s initiatives is a Virtual Kingdom Trade Fair. An event is planned for 24 September.

The Daniel Response to Disruptive Times
Daniel was a disproportionate achiever. Through no fault of his own, his people faced judgment for their lukewarm, wayward lifestyles. The course of his life saw a radical disruption when, along with a handful of companions, he was selected for the training to serve in the court of the king who had conquered his people.

For most, the natural focus would be survival, yet the chief priority for Daniel and his companions was to walk circumspectly with the Lord. Daniel’s life choices hold great insight for ones, uniquely called by God, within environments of serious persecution. Daniel’s behavior and adherence to protocol were in a setting that might be described not only as spiritually toxic, but as a narrow corridor between life and death. Yet, a life defined with leadership by influence. Leadership of the highest order.

Daniel’s prayers and thinking, in gaining the favor and respect of a brutal non-believing king, while without compromise, while serving as God’s representative is a model for spiritual leaders in this emerging hour.

Yet the season represented opportunity for Daniel. So before us is a similar season. In the same way that Isaiah foretold the coming of Cyrus, calling him by name long before his birth, so he saw the season we now have before us. In doing so, he admonished those with ears to hear and eyes to see to: arise and shine, for your light has come. For the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. While darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the peoples, the Lord will arise over you and His glory will be seen upon you.

Isaiah was prophesying Israel’s restoration. Jesus gave further insight into this day, by describing it as a time marked with birth pangs. Birth pangs as time marches toward this restoration. A time vital for God’s people to being looking at the right thing, lest we become overwhelmed. Daniel had that perspective, of the glory of the Lord arising in the midst of the encroaching darkness. Of being that reflector of His light in incredibly toxic spiritual atmospheres … fearlessly, because he knew His God. Because of that, Daniel is a model for the remnant ….ambassadors during times of persecution, who without God showing up, would be engulfed.

Re-Digging the Foundations and Maturity in Facing the Realities
The enemy and his minions specialize in entrapment and deceit. Jesus warned of the seriousness tied to these times. It’s not a game. Even the elect, and perhaps especially the elect are targets. It’s the reason first, we need to re-dig the old wells and make sure of maintaining the transgenerational source of our power we wield and second, we need one another, just as Daniel worked closely with, sought God with and prayed with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego.

Keep in mind the Jewish model that enabled God’s people to prosper, even in the ghettos when darkness was assaulting them: business and community, with God at the center. God at the center means, like Daniel and those whose priorities defined them as heroes of faith through the generations, ones who are listening and giving heed to the voice of the Lord. Ones who fearlessly mark their identities in God, who like Daniel become an influence prophetically and with wisdom to the dark rulers in their realm.

Most believers understand that embracing a walk of faith entails being different. Maturity in the faith involves being a game changer. To be a game-changer involves a different mode of thinking. Upholding the standard rather than attempting to blend our faith with the darkness of the culture around us. All of which brings us to the central message of Jesus’ earthly ministry: the Kingdom.

Jesus began His earthy ministry with proclaiming the Kingdom of God. Few question that reality of the spiritual dimension. Jesus not only proclaimed, but He demonstrated that the spiritual controls the natural. However, to be a Kingdom game-changer requires not just God at the center with us listening to His guidance, but it requires a very different mind-set from the way the world around thinks.

This difference begins with our thinking and is brought into reality through the diligence of our prayers.

Praying Strategically Like Yeshua and Daniel
Father God, we come to You in the incomparable Name of Your Son Jesus, Yeshua. We bless Your Holy Name. We thank You Lord, that wisdom and might are Yours; You change the times and the seasons; You remove kings and raise up kings; You give wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding.

Lord thank You that you are releasing the Josephs and Daniels of this day into the fullness for which You have prepared them. Lord, You are aligning things and setting things in motion for the restoration of what the prophets foresaw centuries ago – as You bring Your Body together in unity. Lord, as You are mobilizing us, You are transforming us and our priorities – into a time marked by the Body flowing in the full knowledge of the Lord.

Lord, we proclaim that Yours is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for indeed everything that is in the heavens and earth is Yours. Yours is the dominion and You do exalt Yourself as head over all. Both riches and honor come from You and You do rule over all; and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great, and to strengthen.

Lord give us the anointing and wisdom of Joseph and Daniel. Help us to think and respond to the challenges of these times with Jewish mind-sets. May we see and respond to what is before us from Your perspective and heart. Make us one with You. Give us a mouth and wisdom the enemy cannot gainsay or resist. Give us eyes to see the opportunity amidst the disruptions and change. Help us to abide in Your rest. Lord, indeed, we stand at the crossroads and look. We ask for the ancient paths where the good way lies, that we might walk in it and find rest for our souls.

Lord, Your word tells us of a time when the nations will rage and the people will plot in vain. A time when the kings of the earth will take their stand and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord and His Anointed, to try to break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from them. Yet, You O God, who sit in the heavens will laugh. You O Lord will hold them in derision. For You will speak in Your wrath and terrify them in Your deep displeasure as you set Your King upon Zion, Your holy mountain.

Lord, how our adversaries have increased. Many are those who have risen up against us. Many are those who have said: “There is no help for them in God.” But You O Lord are a shield for us, our glory and the One who lifts up our heads. We cried out to the Lord and You heard us from Your holy hill. So we will lay down and sleep in the face of our adversaries …. and in awakening, we will be refreshed and see that you have sustained us. We will not be afraid of ten thousands of peoples who have set themselves against us. For You O God have arisen and will smite our enemies. Indeed Your blessing is upon those who wait on You.

Lord, give us the heart of Daniel to see outside the realm of time into the heavenlies … and to pray more strategically. Give us the anointing, the boldness and authority that brings not only answers, but redirects the course of events to align with Your purposes. Lord, give us Daniel’s heart to intercede for his misguided, lukewarm brethren … for them to know You and Your ways, with an undivided heart. Enlarge all of our hearts, O God, to embrace the significance of our roles as doers of the word, and not just hearers, that we be not deceived.

Open the gates Lord, so that all who are righteous may enter. Those who have remained faithful. For the steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, because they trust in You. For in You we have an everlasting Rock. The way of the righteous is level and smooth. O Upright One, make the path of the righteous straight. While we have followed the way of Your judgments, we have eagerly waited for You. At night, our souls long for You. Indeed our spirits seek you diligently. For when the earth experiences Your judgments, the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Lord, You will deliver us from the snare of the fowler and the deadly pestilence. You will cover us with Your feathers and under Your wings we will take refuge. Your truth will be our shield and buckler. We will not be afraid of the terror by night nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks by the noonday. Although a thousand may fall at our side and ten thousand at our right hand, it will not come near us. Only with our eyes will we see the recompense of the wicked. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chafe which the wind drives away. For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly will perish.

For the pillars of the earth are the Lord’s, and You have set the world upon them. You will guard the feet of Your saints, but the wicked shall be silent in darkness. For by strength, no man shall prevail. The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken in pieces; from heaven You will thunder against them.

Let Your Kingdom come O God. Mobilize the remnant to their assignments. Awaken the lukewarm and slumbering and activate them with eyes to see, ears to hear and a zeal to act. Release the assignments and the strategies to Your faithful ones. Equip us all to be reflectors of Your Light in the encroaching darkness to be the game changers we each have been destined to be.
