THE TIMES – PROPHETIC GLIMMERS

At the heart of the SIGN ministry is the quest to understand the times to know what to do. Never in my generation has there been a time when this mandate has been more critical.

I love God’s word. Since the mid-90s, over the course of each year, I have made it a practice to compile a swath of scripture that has been especially meaningful to me. At the end of each of those years I would pray over and shape the format of what initially had seemed as random words of knowledge and wisdom.

With that list completed, I would engage in a time alone with the Lord, a time of consecration and seeking Him for “what’s next” and memorize the scripture compiled that year. One of my books, “Something More,” is primarily a compilation of the first 12 years of these scriptural lists …. which always seemed to have prophetic overtones for what the next year would hold for me.

As I have been amassing my reach in prayer concerning recent events, including but not limited to the October 7 Israeli massacre and the more recent eruption of anti-Semitic and anti-Western sentiment across college campuses, I have been especially drawn to the compilation of God’s word I prepared for 2020 and the glimmers prophetically that it taps for the fast-changing times now upon us.

These are times that we all need more of the Lord and more of His word, His truth … as the foundation for our thinking and outlook on our response to what is unfolding around us. May you find these scriptural glimmers profitably uplifting and insightful as we each align ourselves with God’s heart to give heed to the mandate of Jesus for times such as this: “to occupy until I come.”

As Hebrews 5: 14 states: “But strong meat belongs to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Indeed, in the midst of the turmoil, assignments from on High are being given and received – from Israel to the West and across the globe — as we are being mobilized as game-changers, who like Joseph and Daniel reshaped their cultural settings and spiritual atmospheres.

May we wholeheartedly embrace our roles to serve to build, to influence, to prepare, to awaken, to bless …. as we become the spearhead in establishing His Kingdom and the glorious church Jesus will be returning to.
“God be merciful to us and bless us and cause Your face to shine upon us, that Your way may be known on the earth, Your salvation among the nations.” Ps 67:1-2

Preparation for Change
Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and to perform miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus. So as they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. All the believers were one in heart and one mind. Acts 4:29-32 So inquire of God, that we may know whether the journey will be prosperous. Then I proclaimed a fast to humble ourselves before God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions. Ezra 8:21 The priest said, Go in peace. The presence of the LORD be with you on your way. Judges 18:5 He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. Ps 91:11 Whenever the cloud was taken up from above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would go onward in their journey. Ex 40:36 The LORD watches over the soujourners; He guides the fatherless and widow; but the way of the wicked He turns upside down. Ps 146:9 

Facing the Realities
I have not found such great faith, not even in all Israel! I say many will come from the east and west, and recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, while ones who are heirs are cast into outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt 8:10-12 Walk while you have the light, lest darkness overtake you. He who walks in darkness does not know where he is going. While you have the light, believe in the light, that you may become sons of light. John 12:35 So the day of the Lord comes as a thief in the night. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. 1 Thes 5:2-7 Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, Abba, Father! Therefore you are no longer slaves but sons, and if sons , then heirs of God through Messiah. Gal 4:6 For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings. Heb 2:10-11

His Nearness, Standard and Mantle of Healing
Jesus said, My time has not yet come, but your time is ready. John 7:6 Let us draw near that we might receive grace and seasonable help for our needs. Heb 4:16 If my people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chron 7:14-15  I cried out to the Lord for help and You healed me. Ps 30:2 Lord, You have made the land quake, You have split it open. Heal its breaches, for it totters. You have made Your people experience hardship; but You have given a banner to those who fear You, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Ps 60:2-4 Fear the Lord, for it will be healing to your body and refreshment to your bones. Prov 3:7-8 The tongue of the wise brings healing. Prov 12:18 A wicked messenger falls into adversity, but a faithful envoy brings healing. Prov 13:17 Pleasant words are a honeycomb that are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. Prov 16:24

The Spiritual Atmosphere
There was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came among them. Job 2:1 When man began to multiply on the face of the land and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were attractive. They took as their wives any they chose. Then the Lord said, My Spirit shall not abide in man forever, for he is mortal: his days shall be no more than 120 years. The Nephilim were on the earth in those days and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man and they bore children to them. These children became the mighty men of old, men of renown. So, the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was evil continually. The Lord regretted he had made man on the earth. So the Lord said, I will blot out man from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens for I am sorry that I have made them. But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord. Gen 6:1-8

Uncompromising Focus
For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited. I am the LORD, and there is no other. I have not spoken in secret nor in a dark place of the earth. I did not say to the seed of Jacob, Seek Me in vain. I, the LORD, speak righteousness, I declare things that are right. Assemble yourselves and draw near together, you who have escaped from the nations. The nations have no knowledge. They carry the wood of their carved images and pray to a god that cannot save. Declare and bring forth your case. Take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, a just God and a Savior. There is none besides Me. Isa 45:18-21

Drawing Near in Corrupt Settings
So Daniel went to his house and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions, that they might seek mercies from God concerning this secret, so that Daniel and his companions might not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. So the secret was revealed to Daniel in a night vision. Dan 2:17-19 You, O king, are a king of kings. For the God of heaven has given you a kingdom, power, strength, and glory; and has made you ruler over them all. You are this head of gold. After you shall arise another kingdom inferior to yours; then another, a third kingdom of bronze, which shall rule over all the earth. The fourth kingdom shall be as strong as iron and like iron that crushes, that kingdom will break in pieces and crush all the others. Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, this kingdom shall be divided; yet it shall be partly strong and partly fragile. They will mingle in coalitions; but they will not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. In the days of these final kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed. This kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these other kingdoms, and it shall stand forever. Dan 2:36-44

Unwavering Courage and Discernment of Judgment
Nebuchadnezzar saw a dream which made him afraid and the thoughts on his bed and the visions of his head alarmed him. So he issued a decree to bring in all the wise men that they might make known the interpretation of the dream. At last Daniel came before him. In him is the Spirit of the Holy God. Dan 4:4-9 In the King’s vision there was a watcher, a holy one, coming down from heaven. Dan 4:13 This is the interpretation, O king, and this is the decree of the Most High, which has come upon my lord the king: Your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field and the watchers shall wet you with the dew of heaven and seven times shall pass over you, till you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He chooses. Inasmuch as they gave the command to leave the stump and roots of the tree, your kingdom shall be returned to you, after you come to know that Heaven rules. Therefore, O king, let my advice be acceptable to you. Break off your sins by being righteous and your iniquities by showing mercy to the poor. Perhaps there may be a lengthening of your prosperity. Dan 4:24-27

The Uncompromised Power of His Majesty
At the end of the twelve months the king was walking about the royal palace of Babylon. The king spoke, saying, Is not this great Babylon I have built by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty? While the word was still in the king’s mouth, a voice fell from heaven: King Nebuchadnezzar, to you it is spoken: the kingdom has departed from you and your dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field. You shall eat grass like oxen; until you know that the Most High rules in the kingdom of men and gives it to whomever He chooses. That very hour the word was fulfilled. Nebuchadnezzar was driven from men and ate grass like oxen, his body was wet with the dew of heaven till his hair had grown like eagles’ feathers and his nails like birds’ claws. And at the end of the time, Nebuchadnezzar lifted his eyes to heaven, and his understanding returned to him; and he blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever. Dan 4:29-34

His Awesome Presence in the World
Oh, that You would rend the heavens and come down, that the mountains might quake at Your presence.  As fire kindles the brushwood, as fire causes water to boil: make Your name known to Your adversaries that the nations may tremble at Your presence. When You did awesome things which we did not expect, You came down, the mountains quaked at Your presence. For from days of old they have not heard nor perceived by ear, nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, who remembers You in Your ways. Isa 64:1-5

The Reward of the Covenant of Peace
My kindness shall not depart from you nor shall My covenant of peace be removed, says the LORD, who has mercy on you, O you afflicted one, tossed and not comforted. For behold, I will lay your stones with colorful gems, and set your foundations with sapphires. I will make your pinnacles of rubies, your gates of crystal and all your walls of precious stones. All your children shall be taught by the LORD and great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established. You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear and from terror, for it shall not come near you. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake. Isa 54:10-15

Unity and New Wine for the Season
Can two walk together unless they are agreed. Amos 3:3 What king going to war will not first sit down and consider whether he is strong enough with ten thousand men to engage the one coming against him with twenty thousand? Luke 14:31-32 When you go to war against the adversary who attacks you, then you shall sound an alarm with the trumpets, that you may be remembered before the LORD your God and be saved from your enemies. Num 10:9 And I will cut off your enemies from before you. You shall not bow down to their gods nor do according to their works; but you shall utterly overthrow them and completely break down their sacred pillars. Ex 23:23 For new wine must be put into new wineskins. Luke 5:38

The Path for Ambassadors of His Presence
Thus says the Lord: If you return, I will restore you and you shall stand before me. If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall be as my mouth. They may turn to you, but you shall not turn to them. I will make you to be to this people as a fortified wall of bronze. They may fight against you, but they shall not prevail over you for I am with you to save you and deliver you, declares the Lord. I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless. Jer 15:19-21 Then many people shall come and say, come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us His ways and we shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. Isa 2:3

The Spirit of Deliverance in Judgment
By whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, in which a few were brought safely through the water. This water symbolizes the cleansing of immersion and the pledge of a cleansed conscience through the resurrection of Messiah Jesus, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him. 1 Peter 3:19- So, see that no one fails to secure grace by allowing bitter roots to fester and defile many. Heb 12:15 And pursue love, but earnestly desire spiritual gifts, especially that you may prophesy. 1 Cor 14:1

The Way as the Goal Approaches
To do whatever your hand and your plan had determined to take place. Acts 4:28 For my eyes have seen your salvation that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel. Luke 2:30-34 22 For though we live in the world we are not carrying on a worldly war for the weapons of our warfare are not worldly but have divine power to destroy strongholds. 2 Cor 10:3-4 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and the Lamb through the city; also, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding each month. The leaves were for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be anything accursed. They will see his face and his name will be on their foreheads for the Lord will be their light and they will reign forever and ever. Rev 22:1-5
