The Shift and Strategic Alliances

The Shift and Strategic Alliances

It’s been extremely subtle. A shift, growing in intensity, is underway. It emerges within the context of the

unexpecteds, the distractions and wide swings of recent months. And with that shift is a focus on strategic alliances …. unusual strategic alliances. Alliances outside the boundaries of our typical religious thinking; with voices that have come to counter the values of the ungodly, upholding our own. As we consider such alliances, we are reminded that there is nothing new under the sun.

The Word of God cites examples and models of unorthodox yet fruitful alliances embraced by God’s people. They offer wisdom and a greater awareness of the need for unconventional thinking …. pointing to the value such relationships can have. In one such unusual case, we have the story of the Gibeonites, a sect of the Amorites …. Israel’s enemies …. who following the battles of Jericho and Ai, were in Israel’s path of destruction.
“When the inhabitants of Gibeon heard what Joshua had done to Jericho and to Ai, they on their part acted with cunning and went and made ready provisions and took worn-out sacks for their donkeys, and wineskins, worn-out and torn and mended, with worn-out, patched sandals on their feet, and worn-out clothes. And all their provisions were dry and crumbly.  And they went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and to the men of Israel, ‘We have come from a distant country, so now make a covenant with us.’” Joshua 9:3-6

Despite the beguilement and Joshua failing to seek the Lord, a covenant was made with these people …. a covenant that was honored …. and later resulted in Joshua’s forces dramatically rescuing them from their own people, as Joshua defeated (scripture uses the term wiped out) these sworn enemies, the Amorites …. as Joshua commanded the sun and the moon to stand still in the sky. And the Gibeonites proved to be faithful partners and one with Israel.

Jesus alluded to the unorthodox process and thinking …. that could result in such relationships in His parable of the conniving steward in Luke 16.
“The master commended the unjust steward for his shrewdness. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than the sons of Light. So make use of your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends.” Luke 16:8

Despite Saul later unrighteously defiling this covenant made by Joshua, this unusual alliance endured for many generations. So it is today, that voices are emerging from ones from questionable backgrounds …. yet, in their shift toward godly thinking …. strategic alliances are starting to manifest.

It brings to mind Jesus’ admonition of the need to make friends …. and the critical issues defining what Jesus later pointed to in the very strategic difference between the sheep and goat nations; those aligned with Israel and those against them.

There is no question that we have entered unusual times, which require unusual responses to the intensities of the efforts that the ungodly have been filling the atmosphere with. Unusual responses and unusual alliances.

The Shift and Understanding the Times
In many ways these times have parallels to the days of Elijah …. of a time of great trouble, but resulting in a great deliverance and turning to God. Simultaneously, these days portend parallels to the days of Joshua …. when God did great miracles as the people of God honored strategic alliances with ones who demonstrated the example of the sons of this world being more shrewd than the sons of Light.

Jesus spoke of these days now upon us as days of trouble, times of turbulence, yet times reflecting birth pangs from the shift in the spiritual environment that is underway.

The days of Elijah: Elijah, who was himself sustained during a time of “trouble” and judgment by his most unlikely alliance with the widow at Zarephath, broke the back of the fence-sitting of God’s people adhering to the degradation promulgated by the very toxic Ahab/ Jezebel power alliance …. releasing God’s people into the time of Elisha …. reflecting a double portion of God’s power and spiritual restoration.

Glimmers of the Dichotomous Future Between the Righteous and Wicked
These are times in which the converging paths and alliances between Israel and the Church, between Jew and Gentile …. point to a strong sense of a dichotomous future ahead for us …. a future with judgment for the wicked, but blessing on the righteous; a divinely sent distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.  All within an awakening/ mobilization that results in an array of unusual strategic alliances …. evident across the globe

ALL of what is unfolding is being overshadowed by His presence …. an increase in the consciousness of His presence …. with His glory rising upon us …. a time not unlike when Peter’s shadow, the “out-shining” of the Holy Spirit’s presence, was manifesting through him. A time unfolding when the modern-day Josephs and Daniels come to the forefront in their roles of penetrating and changing cultures ….. with unusual alliances not only with the influence they wield within worldly settings …. but with strategic support from ministry alliances of those who have the “eyes to see” this long-term culture-shaping role of these covert community builders.

A distinct shift to when the sons of Light will be seen as more shrewd in dealing with the world around them than the sons of this world.

These are times with significance being given to recognizing the dividing-line of those Jesus referred to as sheep and goat nations …. as enduring, pivotal strategic alliances with Israel are established. History is manifesting in the shift underway all around …. for those with eyes to see. Never has there been a time in my generation when the words of Isaiah and the need to constantly be seeking Him have carried greater significance:
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Isa 55:8-9

The Culture Shaping Role of the Josephs and Daniels
Daniel’s discernment, beyond the realm of time, into this hour gives pertinent insight into the divisions and alliances …. within both sheep and goat nations …. foreshadowing the potential for friends …. and the need to seek the Lord and His presence …. as the intensity of toxic nature of the ungodly alliances increases.
“Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, this kingdom shall be divided, yet it shall be partly strong and partly fragile. They will mingle in coalitions but not adhere to one another, just as iron does not mix with clay. In the days of these final kings the God of Heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed. This kingdom shall not be left to other people; it shall break in pieces and consume all these other kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.” Daniel 2:43-44

An apt snapshot of the ungodly alliances now being formulated and established. The fragmentation of alliances described by Daniel …. divided, partly strong and partly fragile ….mingling together in coalitions but not adhering to one another …. has never been more extensive globally …. as alliances within the ranks of the wicked versus those within the ranks of the righteous are aligned.

So, the intent to be used by the ranks of the righteous pivots with our thinking. It pivots with a renewing of our minds as Paul admonished the Romans. From the Greek, a renewal that is defined by a complete metamorphosis of our minds …. the shift represented by the caterpillar to butterfly level of metamorphosis. And as one of my most trusted friends recently pointed out to me …. the same metamorphosis that took place with Jesus, Moses and Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration …. as Jesus penetrated the time-barrier, taking Peter, James and John with Him.

It reflects the bar being raised …. in the thinking …. required for the Josephs and Daniels …. for those whose calling is to reshape and impact the cultures around us.

Kingdom-Building Community Builders
One of the key factors defining these modern-day Josephs and Daniels is their anointing in forming culture-shaping strategic alliances …. making friends …. with modern-day Pharaoh’s and Nebuchanezzars. This can range from the community-level to the national level of a variety of cultural settings. The goal is Kingdom-building, but this takes place ,,,, prudently and patiently …. over time …. through the strategy of community-building.

Historically this is not without post-Biblical precedent, as Jews have played a monumental role in shaping the course and composition of Western civilization, serving as advisors to kings, rulers, merchants and a variety of other culture-shaping leaders. Freedom, private ownership, the middle class …. and other key factors shaping economic, judicial, social and governmental standards and systems for most of the West have emanated from Deuteronomy (check out my YouTube series on “Jewish Business Secrets”) …. the result of the influence of and alliances with Jewish advisors over the centuries.

Simultaneously, the anointing of influence resident in modern-day Josephs and Daniels operates on a community-level with ones as innocuous as customers and client bases. Such relationships are built on trust …. and result in people of the world seeking the wisdom concerning worldly matters, that radiates from God’s people. As a planning consultant, I have had more than a couple of secular clients who have observed: “it’s almost as if your recommendations were prophetic.” They have been.

This shift reflects an awakening underway with people of the world, who have become weary of the lies and false premises being promulgated by the voices of ungodly vigilantes. Those represented by this growing awakening are looking for answers …. that reflect practicality and wisdom in establishing the values for decision-making and the course and direction for their businesses and families.

Common Ground and Wisdom
So, while stressing the importance of the influence of the modern-day Josephs and Daniels, of those serving in the marketplace as community builders, a very key factor for these culture-shapers to look for is common ground. Common ground represents the areas of shared interest …. yet, not just any shared interest but shared interest based on shared values, life-defining values.

THIS represents the awakening culturally that is key to the subtle thing taking place, not only within our nation, but around the world. Recognizing the pertinent common ground based on shared values is what made the Gibeonites turn their back on their own people …. in order to infiltrate and align themselves with Joshua and the people of God of Israel.

This is also the chink in the armor of those Daniel refers to as the wicked, the ungodly …. when, through the portals of time, he described our day with it being a time when the wicked will do wickedly with none of the wicked understanding, but the wise being those who do understand …. and who “shine” like the brightness of the sky. For believers of influence who discern the opportunity, that shining is reflecting the radiance of His presence.

For those who will shine …. as advisors …. as culture-shaping people of influence …. wisdom will be the drawing card. Wisdom begins with the fear of God, but comes only to those whose thinking is enshrouded in humility and the diligence to master excellence in their field.
“Do you see a man who excels in his work; he will stand before kings.” Prov 22:29

In concluding and in keeping with Isaiah’s premise suggesting a stronger reach to discern and embrace the higher dimensions of the thinking of God ….  is the need to pause and go deeper into wisdom for our strategies and alliances. Such thinking and wisdom …. not unlike what manifested in the days of Queen Esther and the original Passover …. engenders an expectation, that draws insight and faith from an ancient proverb that punctuates and advances Malachi’s foresight into God’s distinctive response between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not.
“And it shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve, that you will take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, saying ‘How the oppressor has ceased, the golden city ceased!’ The Lord has broken the staff of the wicked, the scepter of the rulers who have struck the people in wrath with a continual stroke, who has ruled the nations in anger, is persecuted and no one hinders. The whole earth is at rest and quiet; they break forth in singing. Indeed the cypress trees rejoice over you with the cedars of Lebanon saying, ‘Since you were cut down, no woodsman has come up against us.’” Isa 14:3-8
