Convergence
Since October 7th there has been a growing focus and concern from both the Church and the Jewish community
concerning the flagrant rise of anti-Semitism, high-levels of anti-Jewish propaganda and blatant persecution …. and how these dimensions bear on the future of both Israel and the Church.
Never has there been a time, when the chief mandate of SIGN to understand the times to know what to do, been more strategic and more essential to discern the course for Israel, the Jewish people, but also the Church, key segments of which also live under persecution.
Never has there been a time of greater significance, for Jew and Gentile to link arms to proactively deal with these deceits, gross perversions of truth and blatant assaults.
With these thoughts as context, we need to be acutely aware of the convergence underway, both from on High as well as from within the ranks of God’s people, both Jew and Gentile that will shift the tide to an equivalence of when Elijah called down the fire and the people of God were awakened from the blindness and clutches of double-minded spiritual lethargy.
A Word to Emerging Leaders
So it is that this convergence has parallels to the days of Elijah. It also points to the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel from Zechariah. Zerubbabel, whose meaning implies the seed emerging from Babylon. Zerubbabel was the first governor over Jerusalem after Babylonian captivity, a descendent of King David and an ancestor of Jesus. A forerunner in leading the people of God from the maze into a time of restoration.
Zechariah’s word to Zerubbabel, in facing seemingly insurmountable, impossible tasks for their spiritual realignment, was that God’s intervention was coming with a convergence between the natural world and the supernatural world.
Key to that word was the expectation that it would be “Not by might nor by power but by My Spirit says the Lord of hosts.” (Zech 4:6-20) What followed this word began with a description by Zechariah of a sequence of angelic activity piercing the darkness, as the stage began being set for what was to dramatically unfold, which had its catalyst in the spiritual obedience of God’s people in the natural realm.
Throughout the word of God are patterns of interactions between God and his people; as if the Lord awaits the response of His people that flows from the premise of “I will, if you will.” As Zechariah prophesied to Zerubbabel:
“The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundations of this house. His hands will also finish it.” Zech 4:9
From that foundation and alignment came incredible angelic activity and the supernatural discerned by Zechariah, in the release of heavenly agendas on behalf of God’s people.
“And I responded the second time and said to him [the angel], ‘What are the two olive branches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden oil from themselves?” Then he said, “These are the two anointed ones, who are standing by the Lord of the whole earth.” Zech 4:12, 14
The Separation of the Wicked from the Righteous
These glimmers of supernatural interventions as seen by Zechariah …. and imparted to the governor of Jerusalem are not unlike “the time of the end” that Daniel foresaw in Daniel 12, with the arising of the archangel Michael when judgment and spiritual awakening that purifies and refines separates out the wicked from those who will shine like the brightness of the sky and bring many to righteousness: with pause being given to these dynamics pointing to the time of the two witnesses …. described by John in Revelation 11 of the two olive trees … which has been interpreted to refer to Israel and the Church.
These prophetic renderings offer insight into the times of an emerging convergence: the strong angelic spiritual manifestations of the spiritual into the natural world ….. and the unfolding role in the course of history of Jew and Gentile ….. of Israel and the Church.
A Glimpse of the Time of Trouble
Accompanying this convergence underway since October 7th has been the reckless abandon and fury of those at the
forefront of the amassing of anti-Semitism and persecution.
The historical significance for such activity from the enemies of God is tied to a prelude of times of trouble, yet times demonstrating God’s intervening response on behalf of His people ….. dovetailing with the spiritual convergence exacerbating the alignment between Jew and Gentile …. between Israel and the Church …. each intervention being precipitated by war in Israel, as Israel has stood for its very survival.
This historical pattern has previously happened, significantly twice, within my lifetime, starting with the time in the late 1940s when dramatically, against all odds, Israel was the victor in its war of independence and became a nation. During that same time-frame there was an outpouring of God’s spirit on the Church, manifesting in the birth of over 250 healing ministries in the US alone …. as God began restoring the expectation of the supernatural to a growing remnant of the Church.
Then in 1967, when again dramatically and against all odds, Israel concluded a war for its survival and regained control of Jerusalem, two other key factors were manifesting within the Church. First, the Charismatic renewal was the catalyst to innumerable, spontaneous prayer movements, expanding the remnant touched by the miraculous into key segments in the mainline church. The second factor was the initiation of an awakening within the Jewish community and a sovereign move of God unveiling the reality of Yeshua as their Jewish Messiah …. an awakening resulting in the growth of Messianic congregations from not more than a couple of handfuls to well over a thousand …. as the presence of Jewish believers in Israel expanded exponentially.
Each of these very pivotal events were preludes to the current emerging time of troubles spoken of by the prophets and described uniquely in Matthew 24. Yet with this time of trouble will come a significant response of this emerging, intervening strategy from on High.
The Strategy from on High Emerging
War in Israel. The Church and Israel. Jew and Gentile. And the change that begins with a response from God’s people which actuates divine intervening agendas. Underway since October 7th has been an awakening and openness from the Jewish community to the growing response of the Church to standing alongside Israel and against the growing anti-Semitism and persecution.
There should be more …. and there will be. There is.
First, a bit more historical context. Paul wrote the Ephesians explaining the dynamic which opened the way for non-Jews or Gentiles to embrace the God of Israel. In verse 12 of the second chapter of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he writes: “Remember at that time, you were separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise.”
It should be remembered that the early church began as a Jewish sect and before the time that believers gravitated to the writings of what was to become the New Testament as scripture, their scripture source was the Hebrew scriptures, the Old Testament. In verse 14, drawing from this source of scripture, Paul goes on to describe this alienation as “the dividing wall of hostility.” The Passion translation renders verse 14 as “every wall of prejudice that separates us.”
When Paul explained to the council of Church elders in Acts 15 about the wonders and miracles the Holy Spirit had worked among the Gentiles, the Apostles officially decreed the reality of the Gentiles, the non-Jews in being accepted as believers into this Jewish sect. It was the removal of that wall of division that separated them not only from Christ, but from the commonwealth of Israel and the covenant promises.
“Men and brethren, listen to me. Simon has declared how God has visited the Gentiles to take out of them a people called by His Name. In this, the words of the prophets agree. ‘After this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David which has fallen down. I will rebuild its ruins, so the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even the Gentiles who are called by My Name,’ says the Lord who does all these things.” Acts 15:16, 17
This is the balance, the reset to what was given precedence by Jesus in His earthly ministry, before the shift resulting from His crucifixion and resurrection: “to the Jew first.”
Nevertheless, as the centuries began to unfold and the church grew, this basic grasp of the Faith morphed from being a movement that began as a Jewish sect into becoming an institution, dominated by Gentile thinking ….. one that rebuilt this wall of separation and hostility between Jew and Gentile.
However, with the progression of this heavenly-mandated dynamic between Israel and the Church in the birth of Israel, then with the 1967 restoration of Jerusalem into Jewish hands ….. and the response to the October 7th assault on Israel in securing its borders, the initial manifestation in the face of growing anti-Semitism and persecution has been of the church arising to stand with Israel …. re-embracing Paul’s insight into the Spirit’s removal of the dividing wall of hostility between Israel and the Church..
The significance of this dynamic is the reliance of each, the Church and Israel, on the other in embracing their intertwined destiny as foreseen by the prophets and especially articulated by Daniel and John the Revelator.
Restoration, Foundations and Strategic Alliances
The Church and Israel. Jew and Gentile. Throughout scripture are patterns, examples of strategic alliances prompted by the Spirit of God in serving God’s long-term purposes for His people. Cyrus, who was named and prophesied by Isaiah 300 years before his birth. The patriarch Joseph’s and Pharaoh’s alliance which sheltered and economically provided for God’s people during famine. The alliance between Daniel and Nebuchadnezzar that set the stage for restoration.
From Genesis to Revelation the underlying theme describing God’s interventions for His people has been the
restoration of all things. So it is today, as Israel shores up their borders that ancient paths and strategic foundations bearing on Kingdom-building are being restored. One of the most pervasive of these foundations are the strategic alliances that can be expected from Israel and the Church, between Jew and Gentile.
Messiah Jesus prophesied a time when the sheep would be separated from the goats, illustrating the expected judgment on nations that either take a stand against Israel or in contrast, align themselves with Israel as sheep. What can be expected to ensue will be the dichotomy between Light and darkness and the judgment prophesied by so many throughout scripture …. the time of trouble, but the time of intervention on behalf of God’s people, on behalf of those who are allied with God’s people ….. Jew and Gentile, the Church and Israel.
“Arise shine, for your Light has come. And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. Darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the people. But the Lord will arise over you and the glory of the Lord will be seen upon you. Gentiles shall come to your Light and kings to the brightness of your rising. They all gather together, they come to you; as your sons shall come from afar and your daughters be nursed at your side. Then you will see and be radiant and your heart will thrill and rejoice, as the abundance of the sea is turned to you and the wealth of the nations comes to you.” Isaiah 59: 14-21; 60:5
As the foundations are restored; as alliances are fostered between Jew and Gentile on behalf of Israel and the Church, what can be expected is a major uptick in Aliyah, those immigrating to Israel.
Likewise, just as in the days of Joseph, there will arise economic systems that bypass the chaos and corruption, that adhere to what I have come to describe as God’s economy, together with my Youtube series on Jewish business secrets …. as God extends His hand to keep His people safe and secure as He did during the time of famine in the days of Joseph.
To reiterate my introductory premise: never has there been a time, when the chief mandate of these prayerful messages of SIGN to understand the times to know what to do, been more strategic and more essential to the course for Israel, the Jewish people, but also to the Church, key segments of which also live under persecution. Never has there been a time of greater significance, for Jew and Gentile to link arms to proactively deal with these deceits, gross perversions of truth and blatant assaults.
We need to be awakened to the convergence underway, both from on High as well as from within the ranks of God’s people, impacting and influencing both Jew and Gentile. A convergence that will shift the tide to an equivalence of when Elijah called down the fire …. as God makes a distinction between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not ….. as the people of God are awakened to the spiritual realities along with the opportunities now unfolding before us as our destinies collide …. as One New Man.
