The Glory …and Joseph and Daniel
For years, actually extending back to the mid-90s, I’ve pointed to the significant prophetic anointing that operated through both Joseph and
Daniel. Each produced incredible influence and unusual miracles. Yet when things became really dicey, it was the actuation of another level ….another spiritual dimension that came into play that made the difference. It was the manifestation of God’s glory.
Throughout scripture we have ones who faced the impossible, more often circumstances approaching destruction and death, who became vessels or conduits to the release of this higher dimension, referred to as God’s glory. Indicators are that we are adjacent to one of those crucibles in time where nothing short of the manifestation of His glory will suffice. AND there is something else, something more I have become aware of but didn’t expect.
But first, what is this dynamic comprising the Presence of His being, described by God as so potent, so powerful, that if even chosen, committed ones such as Moses were directly faced with it, they were warned that they might not survive. Yet, these limited exposures were simultaneously so wonderful that despite such warnings, for Moses it became addictive.
So it has been, again and again, that the glory of the Lord manifesting on the earth through yielded, surrendered believers has accompanied the most astounding of miracles: the Red Sea parting, the sun and the moon stopping in the sky, the consuming fire sent from heaven, for starters.
Scripture points to a time when the priests were unable to stand ….to minister because of the glory manifesting and filling the atmosphere in the house of the Lord (1 Kings 8:11). Jesus, the Messiah was described in Hebrews as being the “exact representation of the radiance of His Glory.”
Too typically, the glory is thought of as something quite apart from those of us who believe, when in reality we, both individually and corporately potentially become its conduit and reflectors. Yet, it is more complex and entails quite a bit more. Isaiah foresaw the contrast of when darkness covered the earth, that the Lord would arise …that the darkness would be pierced as the Lord covers His people with His glory (Isaiah 60:2)
So, again, the glory is the essence of God’s being as it is manifested on the earth, triggered through yielded, surrendered believers who refuse to accept anything less.
It is that dimension between the consciousness of the Presence ….and when miracles become the natural order of things. When the Presence is so strong, it displaces the natural. It is the dimension of the Lord that prompted Moses’ reckless desire for more when he told the Lord, if He would not go with them, then don’t bother.
The Radiance that Displaces
Moses saw it as THAT significant. It was the basis for the radiance that came from Moses because of his exposure to God’s Presence.
Ezekiel captured a glimmer of a time when the amassing of this manifestation of His Presence would be described as: “The Glory of the Lord was coming from the East. His voice was like the sound of great waters and the earth became radiant with His glory.” (Ezek 43:2)
It’s hardly a stretch to connect the timing of the Lord’s response to the increase in darkness seen by Isaiah (Isa 60:2) with the mobilization Ezekiel foresaw in this movement of Glory coming from the East. A dynamic not unrelated to the groundswell of current-day manifestations birthed from persecution.
Getting Beyond Our Natural Dispositions
Taking a deeper dive into our grasp that scripture refers to as “the Glory” brings with it the suggestion of typically unseen dimensions perhaps being sidelined ….in the midst of the boundaries of our natural senses and thinking ….dimensions that impact this amassing of evil in this age-old, unfolding drama.
My wife of 52 years graduated to her reward in late 2023. She was an extremely strong and gifted individual: a licensed psychotherapist, anointed in helping people. Before that she was a case manager, one who found medical solutions for tough-to-solve injury cases. When traditional medical solutions didn’t resolve issues, she was acquainted with a host of alternative health solutions that went a step beyond the traditional.
The point is that spiritually, we have arrived in a season requiring alternative spiritual solutions ….solutions that go beyond traditional thinking …..solutions that tap the supernatural realm in dealing with the unseen realities manifesting around us. Solutions that ones like Joseph and Daniel, like Moses and Elijah, Ezekiel and Isaiah each became intimately acquainted with and tapped.
The Authority of a Mother’s Heart
The Hebrew name for God, El Shaddai, typically translated as Almighty God, literally means the “Many Breasted One.” It suggests the depths of the “mothering” or patient, nurturing side of God when one’s young face challenges beyond their natural abilities.
This dimension in God carries an authority that only those faced with a true “mother’s heart” can fathom. It is unusually strong and resolute. It is fearless, courageous and totally selfless.
It represents a boundary that wise men have discerned not to cross. It is found in the birthing process, but significantly also in the building and nurturing that Joseph and Daniel, Moses and Elijah, Ezekiel and Isaiah paid the cost to employ in their assignments ….that brought God’s unseen world into the natural one. The conduit in this pathway has been and is God’s glory.
It’s one of those hidden matters that Jesus’ earthy ministry drew an important part of its support from well-healed women. Defying Pharaoh’s edict, Moses’ rescue as a baby was fueled by the compassion and courage of less than a handful of women. Israel’s mandate, as well, being upheld by the leadership and courage of Deborah.
It is in the deep darkness and the impossible, that abiding under the shadow of the Almighty, under the covering of His Glory, that the power and protection that shakes the heavens and the earth is released through ones tapping this dimension.
Much has been made from single-issue interpretations of the Genesis 3 account of the role of the woman in the Fall. Yet, a closer look at God’s response reveals something far deeper than that of man randomly being in authority over woman.
The sequence represents the response of strength needed to displace evil’s intent, rather than it being punishment or a curse. God did not curse man or woman. Yet, in cursing the serpent, God indicated he was putting animosity between the serpent and the woman ….defining a spiritual role supported by a number of biblical scenarios involving women ….that land on bringing God’s unseen realm into the natural one through his chosen handmaids, like those supporting Jesus’ and Paul’s ministries, Deborah the prophet leader, the women who defied Pharaoh to pave the way for not only the rescue but the training of Moses as deliverer of Israel.
Whereas the serpent and the ground were cursed, the man and woman were assigned pain, but each given authority with it, the role of enmity displacing the seduction over the serpent ….and the responsibility of bringing fruit to the land. A significant spiritual and natural partnership. One that unveils hidden dimensions that result from God’s people who face persecution and anti-Semitism in faith.
To the point, in the glimmer suggested by Isaiah’s prophecy of deep darkness with the Lord arising over His people, the role of women, modern-day Josephina’s and Danielle’s can be expected to be significant. Ones who understand this unique partnership and role ….and are not intimidated by the naysayers whose tendency is to deny the Power. The partnership and role and overriding motherly influence is protective rather than seductive. It suggests the response of the authority of man in recognizing and nurturing this role as such partnerships manifest.
The Sons of God and the Keys of David
THEN, supporting this alignment of God arising with the advancing, covering glory, are the keys of the house of David and the revealing of the sons of God. The broad context of this process is explained by both Jesus and Paul as the profound dynamic of the birthing process, the birthing of the restoration of the world around it ….when creation groans in birth pangs awaiting this glorious revelation. The birthing of the restoration of God’s intent for creation.
The keys of the house of David; of opening doors no one shut and shutting doors no one can open point to a divinely imparted authority for
restoration. In Acts 15 it was recognized as the dynamic operating when Paul and Barnabbas were witnessing signs and miracles in imparting the Holy Spirit to the Gentiles. It is an anointing that prompts the faith-response of the people that triggers the Glory and its manifestations.
The keys of the house of David carry the standards held for God’s leaders, evidenced in miracles for restoration. The sons of God, in turn, are those endued with the authority and anointing for the supernatural that accompanies this restoration that will result when the community adheres to the alignment and assignment.
Yet scripture historically reveals ones with this authority who misused or stumbled in adhering to the Lord’s intent for restoration. Jonah resisted God’s intent for Nineveh and even when he yielded, he did it reluctantly, disparagingly and angrily. With less than the heart needed for God’s long-term intent. Shebna (Isa 22) misused this authority for his own purposes and gain. Scripture indicates that God removed him violently from the position of his assignment.
In Gideon’s case, he was reluctant, but his reluctance revealed the stronghold that had manifested among God’s people that had given the enemy such a foothold over them. They feared the gods of the Amorites in whose land they were dwelling.
Now it came about when Bnei-Yisrael cried out to Adonai because of Midian, that Adonai sent a prophet to Bnei-Yisrael, and he said to them, “Thus says Adonai, God of Israel, ‘It was I who brought you up from Egypt, and brought you out of the house of bondage. Then I delivered you from the hand of the Egyptians and from the hand of all your oppressors, and drove them out from before you and gave you their land. Then I said to you, “I am Adonai your God. You are not to fear the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are dwelling. But you have not obeyed My voice.’” Judges 6:7-10
What distinguished Joseph and Daniel was that they operated boldly in God’s authority for the anointing in the face of the gods of Egypt and Babylon. There was a reason Joseph wanted his brothers relegated to Goshen. The pinnacle of Joseph’s victory over the gods of Egypt was in Pharaoh embracing the reality of the God of Israel. With his brothers in Goshen, Joseph minimized the influence his brothers may have had on the Egyptians and vice-versa.
The Birthing of Glory from Generational Apostolic Prayer
Fearing the gods of the land of one’s dwelling undermines the authority for the Glory.
The manifestations of Glory within this last generation have coincided with significant prayer movements, which have transcended generations. These apostolic prayer movements have given birth to significant developments, birthings of Glory in both the Church and in Israel: Israel has become a nation. The supernatural evident in the First-Century Church has begun being restored. Desperation prayer has challenged and changed nations intent on persecution and anti-Semitism. Messianic Judaism has been restored and has spread worldwide. Israel has gained worldwide prominence in the face of overwhelming obstacles.
The birth-pangs are yielding to a time when His radiance will be the defining characteristic of those known by His name.
Both Joseph and Daniel were unequivocal representatives of the God of Israel ….at the highest levels of influence ….refusing to be intimidated by the gods of the land in which they were dwelling. Their faith and radiance influenced kings and leaders and appropriated the resources needed for their assignments ….as they played key roles in God’s plans of restoration.
Jesus pointed to this trans-generational process in rebuking the short-sighted, hypocrisy of the Pharisees.
For this reason, the wisdom of God said, “I will send them prophets and apostles of whom they will persecute and put to death, that the blood of all the prophets, which was shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation.” Luke 11:49-50
